A birthday girl picked out these fabrics and asked me to make an art quilt for her similar to my small purple one...BUT BIGGER!!  of course.

fabrications2B - now sustainable!

Well, finally....I replaced the carpet in the studio.  Mainly because cleaning those threads from it was a horrible chore, but also because it was a great place to get eco-consious!

Cork!  So far, it's great!!!  Clean, soft on the feet, forgiving and susatainable!

It also gave me a chance to clean up and reorganize.  This room is also a guest room (see the murphy bed?) so I think it's going to work out great.  I also got a chance to bring out my great-grandmother's beautiful rug!

What's next?  Solar powered sewing..... :)

What can we call these?  A "to-go" quilt? "blankie on the run"?
Call it whatever you like, but it will go from bassinet to stroller to bed to carseat to backpack to college (as a pillow of course!)
I remember needing to cut my son's favorite in three sections because the "travel" element didn't work with the orginial big size! 
The 19 x 28 is perfect.  It shoves perfectly next to their head in the carseat or under their head in bed .... and you know exactly what I mean!

I love the Max and Whispers fabric!  It's so fun especially in my "design as you go" concept! I had leftover 3 1/2 random pieces...

These will make fun stroller "schlep along" blankies !

So, it's been a while since I posted some pottery - my other craft that was to encourage my free and whimsical sculpture....no measuring, no math, no rulers,
no straight edges!

Found this great Beatles fabric and knew it was perfect for Quilts for Kids!

I really didnt have anything planned for these quilts other than staying within the size requirement. After following one pattern from Amy Ellis' book, a stack and slash, basic squares and sashing i just improvised on the backs  - each one is different.

No rules quilting! 
No measuring, just feeling! 

This one is on a small scale (about 12 x 18) and will be a wall hanging with a quilted background ... but this would be phenomenal in a bigger quilt!
